What is TikTok?
Social media is constantly developing new trends, new obsessions. MySpace, FaceBook, Snapchat, every one of these things have been trademarks of the digital age, and now, there’s a newer face on the block: TikTok. A website where 15 to 60 second videos reign supreme, consuming hours upon hours of peoples’ time.
Coming off of the closing of Vine, a seven-second video website, TikTok was developed in China in 2016. It became popular all over the world, eventually absorbing another similar, short-video site created by the same developers of TikTok. It has quickly become one of the largest social media sites on the internet, bringing in millions of users every single day.
Combining the short video appeal of Vine, the fun filters of Snapchat, and the ability to connect and reply to videos with some of your own, TikTok has completely dominated other sites, being used in video compilations on YouTube, and spreading faster than before. And, with the ability to use the sounds of other videos on your own, it makes for quick and simple ways to start trends. It’s easy to get lost in hours of scrolling through videos.

Advertising on TIK TOK
So, what does this mean for advertising for your company? Well, like every new social media space, there are ways to claim space to promote yourself and your company. Ad space can be bought for several spots on the site. One of the prime spaces of advertising is upon opening the app. You can promote your business through a quote or a video following the trends and it is unable to be skipped. After the ad is over, users would be able to visit your page to find out more about your business. Other ad space can be purchased on the site in the normal flow of videos that users scroll through, which can contain links to your website for your business.
If you want to hop onto a current trend, TikTok is the place to do so. Download the app on the Apple Store or Google Play Store and give it a try. It may just be the thing that gets your business on the next trend.
